edible theme from the back yard is now being extended to the front, and what better replacement for the dreadful old falling-over fence than a loose hedge of hazelnuts, roses, herbs and a quince?
Kaye, from Grow From Here, is in charge of the plants and planting. There is nothing I would like more than to do this myself, but I leave the house in the dark, and get home in the dark these days (all photos shot in the dark, sorry). And I know Kaye will give this garden the same love as I would--and a measure more creativity. There are some crazy looking hellebore-pom-pom flowers out there, and a number of other plants I've never seen before. Yay.
I'm so excited about how this front yard is progressing. Tonight I got a taste (and a whiff) of what it will be like to walk slowly up to the house, brushing past fragrant herbs, picking a handful of something to eat. I wanted this front yard to be a journey, and now I really can taste and smell it.
