Full disclosure: this spinach was stolen from the garden next door. But I am 100% sure it grew from seeds blown over from my garden, so it's not exactly theft. Surely.
I have a few recipes for Thai curry, and they usually involve fish. I did buy fish for tonight's curry, but the vegetables all looked so content together I didn't want to strain their relationship by throwing another species into the mix. So the fish is in the freezer waiting for another curry.
Here's a basic Thai curry recipe which I cooked with last year's eggplant harvest. Be warned, it calls for store bought curry paste, which I thoroughly embrace as god's gift to the home cook.
And here's one for when you have a bit more time and energy. This is one of the earliest recipes on the blog, and still one of the stars.
In both cases, feel free to throw the fish in the freezer and and just use veges.
Just so you know I'm not reduced to stealing veges from the neighbours... this is what I harvested while weeding on the weekend. In among the undergrowth I found beets, carrots, fennel, leeks, sorrel, and parsley for the universe.
It's so inspiring to see what happens when you sprinkle a few seeds in the ground and let nature work the magic.
Wow that is some serious looking spinach! Talk about a super healthy boost for the bod. The curry looks great too hon. Perfect for a cold, wet night like tonight. Warm wishes! Becks xxx
ReplyDeleteI never used to like silverbeet much, but it was always overcooked. I remember when I tasted homegrown silverbeet for the first time, it was wonderful - none of that metallic bitterness.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and getting into the silverbeet admiration vibe. I served some at the neighbourhood pot luck dinner last night. One person said "Wow, that's huge silver beet! Did you grow it?" And I replied "No, I stole it from your garden." I think they might go and look at their garden a bit more often now!
ReplyDeleteLove silver beet I grow. Hate it from the supermarket. Go figure. Love the fact you found so many goodies in your weeding. Wish mine turned up so many nice things :o)
