Sometimes you have to go backwards to get forward, and so it is with the front yard project. It is now a disaster zone, and we're relying on the kindness of neighbours to get in and out of our house.
First, the old bits of broken concrete had to come up. I hasten to add that this all miraculously happened while we were at work one day. Two blokes from No Job Too Small are on the job.
Next, boxing for the new stairs. The shed is going over the old steps in the foreground.
More boxing, and an aerial view of the proceedings. We are promised a delivery of cement on Monday.
I couldn't resist catching the morning light. It's not quite the same as when it lights up the crops, but this is about as good as I can make a construction project look.
An early cheer looks on from the border under the downstairs windows. It feels like they're out a lot earlier this year than last year--it has been a milder and brigher winter I reckon... at least so far.
Meanwhile out the back Dru and Kaye have been relieving us of our moss, and restoring the courtyard to its former loveliness. There are planter boxes and steps up the top terrace in our future too.
The sickle moon on Thursday morning. The sun rising a tiny bit earlier every day, gives me that urge to get out and plant seeds. That gamble I took on planting tomatoes in July last year paid off, so I'm doing it again!
